Permanent collection galleries of modern art,
contemporary art and art brut at LaM

A museum’s own collection is always singular: it shapes its image and defines its uniqueness. Although - and the LaM’s collection is proof of that - the museums’ collections have gone beyond this singularity: they have followed multiple histories and have come from many places. Some come from personal collections, such as the Masurel donation, from associations, such as the Aracine donation, or from famous public collections. Today, as the "Collector" exhibition is on show at the Tripostal, the artworks that have been transferred, loaned or donated by the Centre national des arts plastiques to LaM are displayed in the museum’s rooms dedicated to its permanent collections.

In the rooms dedicated to modern art, you will be able to see artworks by Gaston Chaissac (transfers) and André Masson (in trust) ; in rooms dedicated to art brut, artworks by Baya (in trust) and Willem Van Genk (transfers) ; rooms dedicated to contemporary art, artworks by Daniel Buren, Olivier Mossert, Michel Parmentier, Art & Language (transfers), by John Baldessari, Allan McCollum (in trust), Louise Bourgeois, Hannah Collins, Mona Hatoum, Kiki Smith (loans). It will be about Painting, degree zero, Inventory(ies)/Invention and Identity/Identification.

TUE > SUN – 10:00 > 18:00. Closed: 25 DEC, 1st JAN, 1st MAY.
Prices : 7 € / 5 €. Free every first Sunday in the month.

SHUTTLE TRIPOSTAL < > LaM

During the ‘‘Collector’’ exhibition, a shuttle will travel between LaM Villeneuve d’Ascq and Tripostal every weekend. For € 10, visitors will be entitled to a bus return ticket Tripostal / LaM and an entry ticket to both places.
